Versatile Applications

The Power Access Model 4300 automatic door opener is an affordable, high quality, ADA-compliant accessibility solution that fits in most interior and some exterior door applications. Our openers plug into a standard wall outlet and do not require additional adapters or batteries for operation.

Our exclusive passive design includes a wheel on the end of the opener arm that rolls along a scuff plate (provided) on the door to push it open. This unique design is intentional as it leads to less wear-and-tear on the opener during manual ingress and egress, which assures a longer-lasting, durable accessibility solution requiring minimal service and maintenance - a win for busy individuals and their budgets.

Jamb Mount Soffit and Ceiling Tile Applications

For applications with limited room above the door (less than 8.5 inches of space between the door jamb and ceiling), as well as a low clearance (typically less than 7 feet) where inverted units will not work, these units are either built into the soffit space above the door or cut into the ceiling tile, and they push the door open to the right or left.

Model 4300R Hammer Medical-1

Model 4300 Built-In Safety Features

  • The door operator arm is not attached to the door. Instead, a wheel at the end of the door operator arm rolls against the face of the door (or scuff plate), pushing the door open.
  • The door can always be opened manually from either side without involving the door operator.
  • For emergency exits, traffic flow is not hindered by the door operator.
  • If the door meets an obstruction during the opening cycle, a built-in load sensing circuit automatically stops the door operator arm and returns to the closed position.
  • Thermally protected drive motor.
  • Adjustable door hold-open time, up to 30 seconds.

I have a specific application in mind. How do I get a quote?

If you have a specific application requiring an automatic door opener and need a quote, you can email us at sales-int@power-access.com with pictures of the door, door hardware, and surrounding area (from both sides of the door), fill out a survey form and send to sales-int@power-access.com, fill out the quote form on our website, or call us at 1-800-344-0088 to talk through the details and receive pricing. If you reach voicemail, please leave a message. We will call you back in a timely manner.

How do I determine the handing of the door and the opener I need?

We determine the handing of the door from the push side.

When you push the door open, if the door sweeps out and to the left (hinges are on the left, handle is on the right), it is a left-handed door and you require a left-handed opener.

When you push the door open, if the door sweeps to the right (hinges are on the right, handle is on the left), it is a right-handed door and you require a right-handed opener.

This is the case for all door opener types, whether you require a standard jamb mount, deep reveal, or inverted unit.

How do I determine whether I need a standard reveal, shallow reveal, deep reveal, or inverted opener?

Our jamb mount units are installed on the push side of the door and require a separate closing device on the pull side.

The difference between the standard reveal, shallow reveal, and deep reveal units is determined by the horizontal measurement between the closed door surface and the wall above the door. See reference images here.

Standard reveal units are appropriate for doors that have 1 inch to 4-1/2 inches of horizontal measurement between the closed door surface and the wall above the door. See reference image here.

See our architectural drawing for the Model 4300R standard reveal right-hand unit here.

See our architectural drawing for the Model 4300L standard reveal left-hand unit here.

Deep reveal units are appropriate for doors that have 4-1/2 inches to 9 inches of horizontal measurement between the closed door surface and the wall above the door. See reference image here.

See our architectural drawing for the Model 4300XR deep reveal right-hand unit here.

See our architectural drawing for the Model 4300XL deep reveal left-hand unit here.

Shallow reveal units are appropriate for doors that have less than 1 inch of horizontal measurement between the closed door surface and the wall above the door. These units are also required for doors with an offset pivot. See reference image here.

See our architectural drawing for the Model 4300R-SRB shallow reveal right-hand unit here.

See our architectural drawing for the Model 4300L-SRB shallow reveal left-hand unit here.

Inverted units (standard reveal only) are installed in an instance where there is less than 5-1/2 inches of jamb space between the door frame and the ceiling. Generally, these doors are taller than standard doors and have the clearance for an opener to mount on and beneath the upper frame without causing obstruction to those passing through the doorway. See reference image here.

See our architectural drawing for the Model 4300VR inverted right-hand unit here.

Should I use wired or wireless accessories?

The answer depends on how you want to activate the opener. If using wired accessories, low voltage wiring must be installed between the push plate and the main PC board of the door opener. While wired controls eliminate the need to replace batteries, they do require invasive installation and subsequent repair to the wall.

Convenient and practical wireless options are for retrofit applications when running wire requires additional time and material, and delays getting an automatic door opener operational. All wireless accessories require batteries, which need to be changed from time to time. Typical lifetime of the 9 volt DC battery used in a wireless control is 18-24 months.

Can the Model 4300 door opener interface with an existing security system or one I plan on using?

The Model 4300 easily interfaces with any security system. As these systems utilize an electric strike or electromagnetic lock, it is necessary to relay a momentary dry contact signal using low voltage wire from the key fob or card reader and interior push plate to the security system, and, from there, again using low voltage wire, to the SW IN terminals, WHT and BLK, on the door opener's main PC board.

What if I don't have enough room for a surface-mounted closer on the opposite side of the door, or my customer wants to maintain a certain aesthetic and does not want to use the closer?

The option is spring hinges. There are (3) required for use with the Model 4300, and they replace the hinges currently on the door. They are the Model 7510H and are tension adjustable.

What colors do you offer? What if I want a different color?

Our openers are provided in either a light beige or dark bronze color, which is appropriate for the vast majority of retrofit opener applications.

If a different color is preferred, Krylon Fusion for Plastic No-Prep, Superbond Paint for Plastic is available in an array of colors.

See details on this paint and process here.

I need help with troubleshooting an issue I'm having with my Model 4300 door opener. Where can I find support?

Our openers are manufactured with 4 simple components other than framing and hardware. A handful of common and easily identified issues may arise during the life of the opener.

Review a list of common issues, along with symptoms and fixes, on our Model 4300 Troubleshooting Guide here.

If you still experience problems after the use of this guide, call us at 1-800-344-0088, send us an email at sales-int@power-access.com, or fill out a contact form on our website. If you call and reach voicemail, please leave a message. We will return your call in a timely manner.
